Space was at a premium for the Pinelawn Power Plant so the compact size of IST’s OTSG unit versus conventional drum boilers was a significant advantage.
Pinelawn is a Long Island Power Authority facility in New York where the installation was challenged by the need for a small footprint and an aggressive project schedule.
IST’s OTSG came through, occupying a small, 1,183 square foot, footprint and was commissioned in under five weeks.
Owner, developer and operator of the facility, Darrell Jenkins was equally impressed with the quality of the IST product "Materials in the IST units are of a higher grade. My belief is the operations costs will be less, we will have fewer problems with corrosion and deterioration because the material is better than a conventional HRSG from the get go. When it comes to cost I look at it this way that sweet taste of first cost is long forgotten with the bitter taste of trying to make it work over 20 years. Once Through is going to be cheaper in the long run."
