 With the installation of a Cogen plant in South Africa, IST now has OTSGs operating in 13 countries. This recent project is the first of its kind in Africa.
Mondi Business Paper needed a reliable power supply and quality steam for its paper mill (prior to OTSG installation the mill would have to shut down due to lack of electricity).
The installation was significant in other ways too; the need for very high operating pressures (over 1000psig) meant customized engineering for the OTSG technology to manage a dry operating temperature maximum of 1049 degrees F!
This co-generation plant is now producing reliable power and steam for process-use in its Richards Bay pulp & paper mill.
